Opening Day

Game 7: Busch Stadium Opens For Another 81+ Games

Sopping. That’s the word that will come to mind when recalling Opening Day 2014 for the Cardinals in St. Louis.

A win, though, leaving the Reds all wet.

Trevor Rosenthal had a spate of wildness in the 9th, surrendering 2 runs on 27 pitches, and bringing the tying run to the the plate. But eventually ended a 2 hour 59 minute affair.

The usual pomp and circumstance was abundant. From Tony LaRussa wearing the Cardinal Red HOF blazer and shaking hands with Ozzie Smith at home plate to an American bald eagle soaring through the humidified Missouri air – the day was a success.

Peter Bourjos got his first (and second) hit of the season. Allen Craig tallied an RBI, only to be outdone by Yadier Molina’s 3. Mike Wacha was steady over 6, only allowing 1 Red to pass the plate.

Further, Ballpark Village was on full display. Showing St. Louis a city capable of civic growth and development.

Great fans. Good win. Kudos to everyone on a nice little Opening Day 2014.
