2014 St. Louis Cardinals Opening Day Guide

It’s Opening Day in St. Louis!

It’s not an official holiday, but it’s as close as you can get. Work dress codes are relaxed. Your boss is out the door after lunch. Starting times are pushed back for Tuesday. Time to have some fun.

Here’s all the information you need to know for Cardinals Opening Day 2014…

  • Game Time: 3:15
  • TV: Fox Sports Midwest (1:30 coverage begins)
  • Gates: 1:15
  • Pre-Game Ceremony: 2:30 (Includes Clydesdales (cancelled due to weather), bald eagle, TLR (red jacket ceremony), Mike Shannon, Jim Edmonds & Danny Cox (NL Championship trophies from their decades) and NL Championship banner for 2013 raised
  • Anthem: Curtis Finch, Jr. – a Top 10 Finalist on American Idol Season 12, and St. Louis native.
  • First Pitch: Chris Carpenter
  • Give-a-way: Magnet Schedule

The official Cardinals sponsored event on the corner of Clark Street and 8th Street (Ballpark Village) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local rock band Trixie Delight will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fredbird and Team Fredbird will be on hand to give away tickets, autographed items and other Cardinals prizes.

KSDK NewsChannel 5 will have a pep rally at Joe Buck’s starting at 10am. Get autographs from your favorite NewsChannel 5 personalities as well as some guest surprises. Great giveaways and music by Plastic.

KTVI FOX is in Kiener Plaza from 10am – 2pm. Live music from My Friend Mike, delicious food and drinks, beer from Show-Me’s, Kettle Corn, Cardinals gear, and tons of giveaways from local businesses, plus, lots of fun games.


Opens today and the plaques are currently being hung.



The arch is back in the outfield.
